Once you have selected or created an organisation, the next step is to create an Assistant.
Assistants are the AI entities that interact with WhatsApp — either by monitoring group chats (communities) or handling 1-to-1 conversations (businesses).
This page explains:
- Where assistants live
- The difference between Community and Business assistants
- How to choose the right type
- What happens after creation
Assistants are created inside an organisation.
This means:
- Each assistant belongs to one organisation
- Each assistant has its own billing and usage
- Each assistant can be configured independently
- Each assistant can be paused, upgraded, or removed without affecting others
To create an assistant:
- Go to Dashboard → Assistants
- Click Create Assistant
When creating an assistant, you must choose one of two types:
Choose a Community Assistant if you are managing:
- Estates or HOAs
- Schools
- Churches
- Sports clubs
- Neighbourhood groups
- Any WhatsApp group-based community
- Monitors group messages in real time
- Detects toxicity, abuse, or rule-breaking
- Alerts admins when issues occur
- Answers member questions privately (1-to-1)
- The assistant never replies inside the group
- All replies happen in private chat
- Messages are monitored, not counted as conversations
- Serova provides and manages the WhatsApp number
- No WABA or Meta setup is required
Choose a Business Assistant if you are managing:
- Customer support
- Sales or enquiries
- Business notifications
- Broadcast messaging
- Campaigns and templates
- Handles 1-to-1 WhatsApp conversations
- Uses WhatsApp Business (WABA)
- Sends and receives template messages
- Supports broadcasts and campaigns
- Can integrate with external tools and systems
- Messages are counted as conversations
- Supports templates, campaigns, and replies
- Can be integrated with APIs and tools (add-on dependent)
- Uses a WhatsApp Business number
- You may bring your own number or configure one during WABA setup
When creating your assistant, you’ll give it a name.
This name:
- Appears in your dashboard
- Helps you identify the assistant
You can rename your assistant later if needed.
Once your assistant is created:
- It appears in your organisation’s assistant list
- You are guided into the Build Your Subscription flow
- Your assistant starts on a 14-day trial
- You can begin configuring settings immediately
At this stage, your assistant exists — but it is not yet fully configured for use.
After creating your assistant, your next focus depends on the assistant type:
- Review toxicity settings
- Prepare documents and rules
- Add the assistant to WhatsApp groups
- Decide on message volume and add-ons
- Review billing and conversation volume
- Connect your WhatsApp Business Account (WABA)
- Create or sync templates
- Decide on add-ons such as integrations or prompts
